Ambassador Reiterates S China Sea Stance
Chinese Ambassador Pan Guangxue yesterday said that China opposes the contentious issue of the South China Sea being discussed by countries that are not directly involved in the regional maritime dispute. Speaking at a news conference at the Chinese Embassy to discuss Chinese President Hu Jintao’s upcoming visit to Cambodia from Friday to Monday, Mr. Pan also reiterated Beijing’s position that next week’s Asean Summit is not the proper place for the South China Sea issue to be discussed. “China will not support other countries that want the South China Sea to be an international problem.
